This hotel and possibly Havana are not the place to choose for your holiday base, if you are not open minded and prepared for a real culture shock.

What you need to remember is that the Tropicoco Hotel is a budget Cuba hotel located on the beach on the outskirts of Havana. It is not a luxury hotel so if that is what you want look at one of the hotels on the main beach resorts such as Varaderro.
Although a little dated, it offers good old fashioned service and friendly staff. The hotel if located on the very nice public beach, so this gives you the chance to mix with Cuban families. Tropicoco Hotel provides a free shuttle service into Havana twice daily. Food is good quality local Cuban dishes.
