The island of St Lucia is traditionally a honeymooners paradise with spectacular beaches and beautiful surroundings, endless sunshine, crystal blue seas, it is no wonder St Lucia is so popular. St. Lucia is only 27 miles long and 14 miles wide. The Atlantic Ocean kisses its eastern shore, while the beaches of the west coast owe their beauty to the calm Caribbean Sea.If you are seeking a small, lush tropical gem that is still relatively unknown, then St Lucia is for you.
St Lucia Weather
The climate in St Lucia is good pretty much all year round. St. Lucia has a tropical climate, where the temperature doesn't fluctuate much between winter and summer, averaging around 83ºF during the day. Dry season runs from December to June, with the remainder of the year the rainy and hurricane season.
If you're visiting Seychelles for surfing or windsurfing then May to September is the best time to go, diving is great all year but the best visibility is in April and October, and Turtle egg-laying season is from October to February, with eggs hatching in around two months.
St Lucia Things to See and Do
Snorkellers will love the colourful underwater world and coral reef just off of Anse Chastanet Beach and thrill seekers will enjoy fabulous views zip-lining through the tree-tops of the rainforest at the TreeTop Adventure Park. There is a myriad of trails for walkers, hikers and cyclists to meander through plantations and scenic countryside and opportunities for horse-riding tours and off road safaris.
Marigot Bay is a picturesque spot from which to admire the yachts in the Marina, take a boat trip or go snorkelling, diving and kayaking; relax on the beach and take lunch in the village. There is also a Marina at Rodney Bay; where the Reduit Beach offers a wide variety of watersports and safe swimming waters. If Reduit Beach becomes a little busy, take a water taxi to Pigeon Island, relax on the quieter golden sands and enjoy a picnic in the national park.
In and around Soufriere, on the south-west coast, you can take a guided walk along the Tet Paul Nature Trail with fabulous views to Jalousie Bay and the Pitons, Maria Island and Martinique. Other nearby natural attractions to visit include the Diamond Waterfall and the Sulphur Springs Park where you can bathe in the warm volcanic mud and mineral waters.
A little further south of Soufriere, the much photographed Piton Mountains sit next to Piton Bay and there are opportunities to take a guided hike up the larger one for amazing views over the island.
Castries, the capital of St Lucia has a cruise ship terminal and duty free shops at Pointe Seraphine; a mall on Jeremie Street and a colourful market where you can find local produce and hand-crafted items. Also on Jeremie Street, the high-tech and interactive Our Planet provides a fascinating visitor experience. There are a few historic points of interest in the town including La Toc Military Fort and the Derek Walcott Square and the most spectacular view point over Castries and the harbour can be seen from Morne Fortune.
St Lucia Dining
