Hiring a car
Book your hire car.
If you are hiring a car for the first time in some countries, don't be surprised when you look in the boot to find it empty.
Yes it's against the law to change tyres at the roadside.
Ensure that the company you hire the car from has a 24 hour call out service.
Also make sure you have full insurance including collision damage waiver.
If you are planning to drive in some less developed countries, be careful
roads are not up to the same standards as other European countries.
Road works are confusing and dangerous.
Many Hillside roads with hairpin bends do not have any form of barriers.
But don't let this put you off. If you are careful, it's well worth it for the freedom and the views

If you are planning a weeks holiday - Budget airlines often have the best deals if you fly out Wednesday and back the next Wednesday
You are likely to have to book (and pay for) tickets well in advance
Cruising
If you are booking a cruise - be sure to find out the rules for cancellation
